paintings by Ditz

The ideal book for all cat-lovers and a very stylish, high-quality, good value gift. A collection of short stories, extracts, poems, quotations and even a complete cat horoscope, all lavishly illustrated with 100 paintings by Ditz. She has exhibited widely, her work is held in collections in four continents and has been published in books, social stationery, greetings cards and so on, throughout the world.

For centuries cats have brought pleasure to people and inspiration to writers and artists. This book is a collection of short stories, extracts, poems, quotations and even a complete cat horoscope, including authors as varied as William Blake, Lewis Carroll, Paul Gallico, Thomas Hardy, Keats, Edward Lear, George Orwell, Saki, Shelley, Mark Twain, Wodehouse and Wordsworth.

What makes this collection truly unique is the beautiful accompanying artwork and the number of paintings reproduced. Ditz has been painting cats for over 30 years and knows just how to show their many moods and attitudes. Here we see over 100 of her wonderfully-observed paintings, all in full colour.

"I really enjoy Ditz's cat-paintings. I own two of them and they never fail to bring a smile to my face"    Sir Alan Ayckbourn

Ditz was born in Vienna, Austria but has lived in England for over 30 years. Her distinctive style has evolved over time into the highly detailed, quirky images that will be easily recognized from books, greetings cards, jigsaw puzzles, stationery products, ceramics and textiles. The paintings themselves, usually on a relatively small scale, are in acrylic on board and her favourite (though not soleÖ) subjects are cats... Ditz has exhibited regularly at a range of galleries including The Royal Academy (many times) and The Barbican (both London) and civic museums and galleries in other UK and European cities. Her work hangs in collections throughout the world.
